Cooper Temple Clause (Live Hop and Grape) - Pobice
Yes, I've finally managed to see another Gig this year. Doors where at 7:30 (not The Doors though) and the first band Oceansize was on Stage bang on 8. They have to be one of the best support bands I have ever seen, coming second only to Clearlake.They started of with a track where the intro must have lasted 10 min before they even sang a note. Very original, creative and they couldn‘t half play. Not quite sure how to describe the music but I might attempt it later if I get a chance to hear something they put down on record. In all they where on for about 30min, and probably only played about 4 tracks during that time. If their other material is anything like what I herd there going to be one fantastic.
As for the next support band. Well I haven't even bothered to remember the name of it,they where that good. No originality at all, not that good at playing or singing either (although it did appear as if they had a singing drummer.) Even the crowd didn't seem to like them as they where chattering all they way though the set. This was quite surprising as it as full of teeny moshers (well there was no real moshing from them, they just wear the right clothes etc), who where probably teeny boppers up until some time this year. In fact when I was queuing up to get in it seemed as if SCi and me where the oldest there (bit poor when your both just 20). Wasn't so bad once the place started filling up.
The good thing about the crowd been so young was the you could get served at the bar in no time. In fact they ended up remembering our order there was that few a number of people using the bar. However this didn't really make up for the well how crap the crowd was. They never really seemed to enjoy themselves or get into the mood (Probably due to the high number of teen girls at the front gazing at the band as they do). Why they can't just buy a poster and let the rest of us enjoy the music I just don't know.
As for Copper Temple Clause, they where as good as I thought they would be, just let down by the crowd. As for the sound and visuals. Very impressive to say it‘s the tinniest venue in the uni. They certainly packed the stage with lights (at least 6 robot lights dedicated to the main act). Not to mention the huge mixing desk and racks of equipment in foh. All I can say is wow, (epically as the foh was almost the same size as the stage, and the bar is actually bigger than both put together).
