No Nukes! No Nukes! No...-BOOM- - J.Sheridan
For those who frequent Leeds you may have noticed a bunch of neer do wells lingering near the station ambushing passer bys with useless haranguing. I speak not of Issue sellers (Who seem to have migrated to Manchester lately, there are literally two on every street. I counted at least a dozen total while walking straight through town) but of anti war protesters. Now the older denizens of the board, the First Ones, will recall I am not entirely hostile to the idea of blowing up bad guys. SO I do have a difference of opinion from day one with these buffoons, but it was the apparent reasons they profess repeatedly that irritates me most.
First they oppose the war in Iraq. Well fine, but where were you FOUR YEARS ago when it might have made a sodding difference. Right now leaving would cause more death than stating as the country goes into civil war and genocide. Also allied losses are a few thousand, how the hell would these protesters act to the average WWI battle that had that many deaths per minute?
People have become chicken, we live in a world where we should express our feelings and emote. Bollocks to that. I dont see the SAS emoting about killing Nazis. We are expected to feel bad about stuff these days, where as in the old days we were expected to grow up and deal with it. Expectation and perception shape society, and this perception of a weak willed Britain has created a weak willed Britain.
Those Navy crew the Iranians kidnapped, damn that was embarrassing. I mean for Fracks sake they were in speedboats! Just drive away before the Iranians are more than a dot on the horizon you morons! Not like they had to sodding row or even exert themselves like Hornblower!
But the protesters best piece is on Nukes and how not buying new nukes will pay for more hospitals. First its bollocks, I checked the figures and the cost of procuring the new missiles and subs works out as 0.7% of the NHS budget per year. Not enough to do anything. Secondly nukes have saved more lives than the NHS be preventing WWIII and all sorts of war between India, Pakistan and China, plus the ever popular Israeli conflicts.
SO I say YAY TO NUKES, because unless you can predict what the world is going to be like in 20 years you cant say well never need them, especially looking how much the world has changed the previous two decades.
So join me in the call:
Nuke ‘em til they glow, then shoot ‘em in the dark.
